Ingredients:
-1 kg of combined lamb and beef mince
-1 bunch of parsley (finely chopped)
-2 medium onions (finely chopped)
-2 potatoes (slice 1cm in thickness)
-3 tomatoes (slice into circles)
-1 sweet capsicum (sliced)
-1/2 tsp of 7 spices
-1/2 tsp of salt.
Preparation:
- fry the sliced potatoes in an appropriate amount of oil, until golden in colour
- in an appropriate bowl, combine the mince meat, onion, parsley, salt and the 7 spices together until you have a
consistent mixture.
- Using your hands, divide the Kafta into balls, in an appropriate size. Flatten each ball into a circle to obtain kafta patties.
- in a tray, arrange the onion slices, tomatoes, kafta, capsicum and potatoes
- sprinkle with 7 spices
- pour tomato sauce (which was prepared)
- bake the kafta on 350° for 45 mins until golden
Sauce preparation:
- 2 cups of water
- 3 spoons of tomato paste
- 1/4 cup of pomegranate syrup
- 1/3 tsp of 7 spices
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- in a wide pot, pour water, tomato paste, pomegranate syrup, 7 spices and salt
- mix all ingredients using a whisk, until the tomato paste has dissolved
Kafta is served with rice vermicelli on the side
